SVA’s one-year master’s degree in Design Research, Writing & Criticism, a.k.a. DCrit, explores the contexts and consequences of design through journalistic investigation and critical questioning.
MA candidates shape their findings into compelling narratives that engage broad audiences and take a variety of forms, from print to podcasts.
The curriculum, led by a faculty of active practitioners, is geared towards designers and thinkers interested in elevating their careers to the next level through by-lined publications, teaching, and thought leadership.
We invite you to join D–Crit and publication-in-residence New York Review of Architecture on Tuesday, October 24 at 6:30pm as we open the department studio for a night of readings and conversation with NYRA editors, alums, faculty, and students.
You can also start the conversation via email at designresearch [at] sva.edu or schedule a time to chat with our program chair, Molly Heintz.
Our application deadline is January 15, 2024. Scholarship funding is available.
