Pinacoteca Agnelli is a dynamic centre open to the multidisciplinary languages of the present in dialogue with the institution’s historic collection. Since 2022, under the leadership of director Sarah Cosulich, the Pinacoteca has become a space dedicated to the production of exhibitions and site-specific projects commissioned from Italian and international artists.

Pinacoteca is a space open to reflection on contemporary discourse, promoting the inclusion and participation of a range of different audiences—also thanks to the extension of its programming on the Pista 500, a 1 km long track on the roof of the Lingotto, the former FIAT car factory now hosting the museum.

Thomas Bayrle: Form Form SuperForm
November 3, 2023–April 2, 2024

Form Form SuperForm is a retrospective exhibition by German artist Thomas Bayrle (Berlin, 1937) developed specifically for the spaces of the former FIAT factory of Lingotto.

Curated by Sarah Cosulich and Saim Demircan, the show is a non-linear journey through the key themes of Bayrle’s practice such as mass production, consumerism, power, economics and faith, explored in connection with the history of a building that the artist has looked towards since the 1970s as a source of inspiration.

Evoking the circulation of merchandise and the conveyor belts of an assembly line, Bayrle has also created a new large sculpture for the Pista 500 on the Lingotto roof. The work conceptually links the rooftop track to the galleries of the Pinacoteca Agnelli.

Lucy McKenzie and Antonio Canova: Vulcanizzato
November 3, 2023–April 2, 2024

Curated by Lucrezia Calabrò Visconti, this exhibition presents Brussels-based artist Lucy McKenzie (b. 1977, Glasgow) in dialogue with works by the neoclassical sculptor Antonio Canova (1757 Possagno–1822 Venice) from the Permanent Collection of Pinacoteca Agnelli.

The project originates from two plaster casts by Canova depicting the motif of dancers, to which McKenzie has reacted with sculptural works and a new large painting. The exhibition invites us to reflect on the construction of models and the connections between classical statuary, decorative sculpture and the mannequins used in shop window displays.

The show belongs to the Beyond the Collection series, a programme which aims at reactivating the museum’s permanent collection, challenging traditional visions of art history.

PISTA 500

From November 3, four new installations will be presented on the Pista 500, the outdoor sculpture project by Pinacoteca Agnelli on the Lingotto rooftop curated by Sarah Cosulich and Lucrezia Calabrò Visconti. They will join existing works by VALIE EXPORT, Sylvie Fleury, Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster, Louise Lawler, Marco Giordano, and SUPERFLEX.

Pinacoteca Agnelli has established a new prize in collaboration with Artissima. The awarded artist will be given the possibility to present their work on the Pista 500 billboard. The new work will be unveiled at Artissima 2024.
