Melih Fereli OBE will pass on his position as the Director of Arter, a role he has held since the institution’s establishment, to Emre Baykal, the Chief Curator of Arter, as of December 31, 2023.
Melih Fereli has served as the culture and arts consultant of the Vehbi Koç Foundation—Türkiye’s first private foundation—since 2005, and held the position of Founding Director at Arter for the past 13 years. Throughout this period, Fereli has curated numerous exhibitions and played an active role in efforts to promote the development and continuity of contemporary art in Türkiye, alongside his significant contributions to the Vehbi Koç Foundation and Koç Group.
Emre Baykal, who joined Arter’s team as Exhibitions Director and Curator in 2008 and has been serving as Chief Curator since 2016, will officially assume the position of Director at Arter as of 1 January 2024.
