Fulterer Scherrer: blingbling
on view until February 4, 2024
The Austrian artist duo Fulterer Scherrer have developed new works for the Kunstraum Dornbirn’s assembly hall with the resonant title blingbling, which links the objects with the existing architecture and its infrastructure in an expansive manner. In pop colors, seemingly superficial aesthetics and sensual material combinations, the artists address viral questions about identity, sexuality, power and the construction of reality.

Toni Schmale
February 16–June 9, 2024
Toni Schmale’s sculptural works defy definitions, both in terms of content and form. Ambivalences and transitions, transformations and contradictions determine her technical, highly aesthetic artistic language. Themes of stereotypical gender ascriptions or constructions and social power relations and interactions resonate here in a subtext that is revealed in, among other things, the titles, peppered with ironic humor. Schmale expands the concept of sculpture in a constantly advancing search for the nuances of material conditions and forms, in the obligatory examination of the resulting object’s utility and its socially critical function of commentary. Toni Schmale—Kunstraum Dornbirn.
Angela Glajcar: FLASHBACK
June 21–December 1, 2024
The art of Angela Glajcar is characterized by the apparent lightness and poetic plasticity of her preferred material: the German artist designs wall objects, smaller and free-standing large-format sculptures and monumental installations, all made of paper. Inherent in the forms is an architecturally structured concept that arises in a fundamental dialogue with the space and is absorbed into the space. For these works the former industrial hall of Kunstraum Dornbirn offers a very attractive environment. The natural light streaming through its large lattice windows sets the mood and over the course of the day allows the paper surfaces and sculptural bodies to enter into an exciting, constantly changing reciprocal relationship with the space. Angela Glajca—Kunstraum Dornbirn.
Heimspiel
December 13, 2024–February 2, 2025
“Heimspiel” is a cross-border triennial at the Four-Country Point, in which Vorarlberg (Austria), the Principality of Liechtenstein and five cantons of Eastern Switzerland join forces to make local contemporary art visible. Institutions with an international focus open their programmes every three years for group exhibitions with artists who have a connection the participating cantons and countries. In addition to the Kunstraum Dornbirn, the exhibition venues are the Kunstmuseum St. Gallen and the Kunst Halle Sankt Gallen, the Kunstmuseum Thurgau’s Werk2 in Arbon and the Kunsthaus Glarus.
