While celebrating our tenth anniversary this Season, we reflect on a decade of maintaining our independence, surviving and growing as an online educational institution in arts and humanities, thanks to the support of our network of instructors, members, students, researchers and Institutional partners. To celebrate, three artists from our network, R.H. Quaytman, Jean-Luc Moulène, and Jon Rafman have granted us the permission to illustrate this announcement with their works.

The upcoming fall/winter 2024–25 season will feature seminars and workshops with contemporary and practical takes on Alfred North Whitehead, Antonin Artaud, Charles S. Peirce, Friedrich Nietzsche, Gilbert Simondon, Herbert Marcuse, Louis Althusser, Roger Caillois, Sigmund Freud, and Wilfrid Sellars. Our Seminars will also touch on topics such as cognitive mapping, fear, feminism, forensic investigations, human geography, geopolitics, machine intelligence, philosophy of biology, and planetary collapse.

In April, we delivered HYPER ANNOTATIONS 3.0 as part of this year’s Venice Biennale opening days, featuring conversations with artists, curators, and art professionals, now available on our YouTube Channel

This year is marked by an expansion of our publishing platform, &&&. Our books that are currently available for purchase are Minor Bestiary, by Eduarda Neves, translated by Diogo Montenegro; Model is the Message, edited by Mohammad Salemy, and Phenomenon & Difference, by François Laruelle, translated by Lindsay Lerman.

Our &&& Platform continues to publish original texts and translations of important works in philosophy, art, technology, and social thought. To submit a text, please contact editors [at] thenewcentre.org

In partnership with The Centre for Philosophy of Education at the Institute of Education, University College London, in June we co-organized Marxism & The Pittsburgh School, featuring keynotes by Amanda Beech, Ray Brassier, and Vanessa Wills. The proceedings of the Conference will be made publicly available this year.

We have launched a new Public Program of Double Bill lectures designed to give our students and researchers a platform to present their intellectual output. The three Sessions that have already been hosted are: Dis / Integration, Dissonance / The Archive, and Thought / Worlding.

Following the participation of our Organizer, Mohammad Salemy, in Zeppelin University’s lecture series’ “Being Wrong,” this April he co-delivered “Brain-Eating Zombies: The academic form versus knowledge production” with Researcher Rafael Moscardi. Currently, we are developing an institutional partnership with Zeppelin University, engaging with their annual lecture series and organizing joint workshops, culminating in a Summer School in 2026 focused on the question of Planetary Survival in the Age of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI).

To celebrate our 10th anniversary, we are offering our seminar credits at reduced rates. You can also still enroll in our spring/summer 2024 forthcoming seminars and workshops by Ben Woodard, Cécile Malaspina & Liza Featherstone, Daniel Sacilotto, Jason Mohaghegh, José Antonio Magalhães, and Joyelle McSweeney.

Lastly, we congratulate some of our students and researchers on their recent achievements: Joel Blanco and Miguel Leiro, for their curatorial work on the third edition of Mayrit Biennial, Reza Ardestani for his acceptance into the Southern California Institute of Architecture master’s program, Denisse Vega de Santiago for her new role as Design Tutor at the Faculty of Architecture, Design & Communication at La Salle University in Mexico City and Carl Olsson for obtaining his PhD in Human Geography from Newcastle University.
