What does care mean over time and in our current state of global crisis? Through a series of declarations of “I care by…”, 50 interdisciplinary designers, architects, thinkers, activists, scholars, healers and cultural practitioners come together for a publication dedicated to reimagining the politics and ethics of care.
We are in the midst of a global crisis of care. Care Manifesto is an urgent response to how to care in uncertain times by 50 practitioners and researchers from the Global South and Global North, brought together by curator Naiyi Wang and the team behind the Care Pavilion at London Design Biennale 2023.
Inspired by The Care Collective—Andreas Chatzidakis, Jamie Hakim, Jo Littler, Catherine Rottenberg and Lynne Segal—a London-based collective of academics from a breadth of disciplines whose research focuses on addressing the extreme crises of care, Care Manifesto is an ongoing project that invites the most creative minds of our generation from around the globe to respond to these ever present yet newly urgent matters of care, it seeks to foster a diversity of responses and experiences across disciplines, at a time when a world where carelessness reigns.
