With the start of the 2023–24 season, the CEAAC is introducing a series of structural changes aimed at strengthening across-the-board integration of all its programs. First among these is an overhaul of its international exchange residency program, which will recenter on Europe while simultaneously exploring new territory thanks to partnerships with institutions in Italy (IUNO, Rome) and Spain (Hangar, Barcelona) that share its artistic vision and areas of research. These include the status of images in a fast-changing environment, vernacular culture and know-how, and public health issues.
Besides its longstanding artists’ exchange program with institutions in Germany, Hungary, and the Czech Republic, the CEAAC will be offering residencies designed to provide research possibilities for curators. As part of its short-term residency program Hop, it will be welcoming Frida Carazzato (Research Curator at Museion, Bolzano), Mériam Korichi (writer, stage director and founder of the Nights of Philosophy), Ana Mendoza Aldana (independent curator and Head of Curatorial Research at Le Crédac, Ivry), Julia Geerlings (Director of A Tale of A Tub, Rotterdam) and Camille Richert (art historian, curator, teacher at ENSBA Lyon, and associate researcher at CHSP, Sciences Po, Paris). Meanwhile, as part of a ten-month residency over three years funded by the region’s Mission de Territoire—Arts Visuels program, Duo -Y- (curator Julie Laymond and artist Ilazki de Portuondo) have started travelling across the Grand Est region of France to explore spiritual beliefs and practices linked to water and its healing powers.
These programs were made possible by public funds released as part of the 14th “Strasbourg European Capital” triennial contract.
