July 12–September 6, 2023
This summer, the List Center presents its third annual summer series of artist-led programming designed for asynchronous engagement from wherever you are with works by Lia Chavez, Jules Gimbrone, Darrin Martin, Victoria Shen, and Naama Tsabar.
Replenish is a series of five artist-designed sound experiences that encourage listeners to take a break and take a breath. Each artist offers a unique take on what it means to replenish oneself, and their diverse contributions to the series emphasize the importance of self-care. As many of us move back to the speed of life in the wake of the pandemic, these sound experiences offer an opportunity to pause and mindfully engage with art and the world around us.
A new iteration of Replenish will be released every other Wednesday from July 12 to September 6, 2023. By registering, you will receive the latest release of each sound experience directly in your inbox.
Accessibility
This series will include audio files embedded on the List Center website. Screen-reader-enabled PDFs with audio descriptions—or transcripts where applicable—will also be available.
Registration
This program is free and open to our global audience. While each experience will be accessible on our website, we recommend registering to receive a new release of Replenish in your inbox every other week throughout the summer.

About the artists
Jules Gimbrone: July 12, 2023
Jules Gimbrone is a visual artist and composer invested in reflecting how an illegible and contested subjectivity listens, discerns, and responds. The work synthesizes physical and sonic material, sensory perception, the physical body, electronics, and objects. Gimbrone works in a third space to produce synesthetic, hybrid content through a rubric he defines called “Trans-Sensing.”
Victoria Shen: July 26, 2023
Victoria Shen a.k.a. Evicshen is a sound artist, experimental music performer, and inventor based in San Francisco. Shen’s sound practice is concerned with the materiality/physicality of sound and its relationship to the human body. Her music features analog modular synthesizers, vinyl/resin records, and self-built electronics. Shen’s music eschews conventions in harmony and rhythm in favor of extreme textures and gestural tones.
Darrin Martin: August 9, 2023
Darrin Martin engages the synesthetic qualities of perception through video, performance, sculpture, and print-based installations. Influenced by his own experiences with deafness, his projects consider notions of accessibility through the use of tactility, sonic analogies, and/or audio descriptions.
Lia Chavez: August 23, 2023
Through her multifaceted, performance-based practice, New York-based artist Lia Chavez is known for crafting unforgettable encounters which explore the phenomenology of light, illumination, and their impact on our lives and inmost creative selves.
Naama Tsabar: September 6, 2023
Naama Tsabar’s practice fuses elements from sculpture, music, performance and architecture. Her interactive works expose hidden spaces and systems, reconceive gendered narratives, and shift the viewing experience to one of active participation. Tsabar draws attention to the muted and unseen by propagating sound through space and sculptural form.
