Foundwork is pleased to announce the open call for the 2023 Foundwork Artist Prize, the annual juried grant for emerging and mid-career artists working in any media.

Now in its fifth year, the award includes an unrestricted 10,000 USD grant and studio visits with each of this year’s distinguished jurors. In addition, the honoree and three shortlisted artists will be invited for long-form interviews as part of the Foundwork Dialogues program to further public engagement with their practices.

The 2023 jury includes the following esteemed curators, gallerists, and artists:

Alex Gartenfeld, Artistic Director, Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) Miami, Miami; Davida Nemeroff, Founder, Night Gallery, Los Angeles; Shinique Smith, Multidisciplinary Artist, Los Angeles; Emiliano Valdés, Chief Curator, Medellín Museum of Modern Art, Medellín; Nicola Vassell, Founder, Nicola Vassell Gallery, New York.

The Foundwork Artist Prize is open to artists residing anywhere in the world with limited exceptions. To be considered, artists will need to register and maintain a profile on the Foundwork website, with at least six artworks and an artist statement published on their profile page, throughout the 2023 selection period: 5pm PT, September 26–5pm PT, December 31, 2023.
