September 1–4, 2016
As Kunsthalle Zürich is one of the main venues for Manifesta 11, The European Biennial of Contemporary Art (June 11–September 18), we move Extra Muros to Tbilisi, Georgia. A piece of land in Shindisi, at the outskirts of Tbilisi, will turn into a Kunsthalle without walls: a stage hosting performances, talks, screenings, meals, concerts and conversations. Tbilisi 16 takes place over four consecutive days in the first week of September 2016. It is open to the public at all times for free, and will be documented on our website.
We start the ad-hoc programming daily at 3pm and it runs until about 7pm, from September 1 to 3. On the last day, on September 4, this festivalesque exhibition ends with a big dinner and an open microphone.
Participating artists, projects and collectives: Ketuta Alexi-Meskhishvili, Marie Angeletti, Ei Arakawa, Levan Asabashvili (Urban Reactor), Géraldine Beck & Miriam Laura Leonardi, Bouillon Group, Danarti Magazine, Dima Dadiani, Nikolas Gambaroff, GeoAIR (Nini Palavandishvili, Data Chigholashvili, Sophia Tabatadze, Tata Chirakadze), Tue Greenfort, Karl Holmqvist, Marc Hunziker & Chantal Kaufmann & Rafal Skoczek (UP STATE), Yannic Joray, Emil Michael Klein, Tobias Madison, Nik O Nik, Gela Patashuri, Leila Peacock, Emanuel Rossetti, Georgia Sagri, Dennis Schroer & Hannes Schmidt (Dingum), Tobias Spichtig, Stefan Tcherepnin, Ramaya Tegegne, Traveling Art Books, Hanna Törnudd, Andro Wekua, and others.
