The Professor of the Practice in Sound, within the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University, will teach graduate and undergraduate courses and conduct research in the areas of sound art and installation. Areas of focus may include history, theory, and practice of sound in modern and contemporary art; the politics of sound, broadly defined, in society; sound and its relation to the social sphere; sound in non-Western conceptions and contexts; and custom-built sound hardware/software tools. Will work collaboratively with faculty in the department, and other areas of the school to develop cross-media studio courses and seminars.
Submit grant proposals and prepare articles for publication in scholarly journals. Advise undergraduate and graduate students.
Requirements include a Master of Fine Arts degree or equivalent and no work experience. Application deadline is April 24, 2023.
