Phileas – The Austrian Office for Contemporary Art invites museums, biennials and art institutions around the world to apply for funding support for projects in 2024.
Our mission is to support artists, curators, galleries and institutions in Austria and strengthen their presence on the international landscape of contemporary art.
Through long-term partnerships with biennials and art institutions around the world, we enable the production and exhibition of new artworks and their donation to public collections. Since 2014 we have supported over 100 exhibition and publication projects worldwide.
This is done through an application-based process. The application deadline for funding collaborations in 2024 is Monday September 11, 2023.
The criteria for application are as follows:
–Projects should present the work of Austrian or Austria-based artists
–Applications should be submitted by museums, biennials and other non-commercial institutions located outside Austria
–Applications should be submitted in English and include all information requested in the application form, including confirmed dates and a detailed budget
The application form can be found on our website and should be returned by Monday September 11, 2023 via email to application [at] phileas.art. Applicants will be informed of a decision in November 2023.
Phileas was founded in Vienna in 2014 as an independent philanthropic organisation funded by the contributions of private members. In 2023 we formed a partnership with the Austrian Federal Ministry for Arts, Culture, the Civil Service and Sport to create a new organisation named Phileas – The Austrian Office for Contemporary Art.
