Artist Camille Norment (b. 1970, lives and works in Oslo) will receive the renowned international art award of Kunststiftung NRW—Nam June Paik Award in 2023.
She receives the award for her new work Glass Pavilion Marl, which she developed especially for the Skulpturenpark Marl (Sculpture Park Marl). In the glass pavilion, visitors can experience a polyphonic voice composition. It is a place of quiet and pause where a different experience of time is possible.
Admission is free.
Opening hours: daily 8am–8pm.
Camille Norment’s installations, drawings, performances and compositions have been shown at numerous international exhibition venues and festivals, most recently at Bergen Kunsthall, Punta della Dogana (Venice) and Dia Art Foundation Chelsea (New York). In 2015, Norment represented Norway at the Venice Biennale.
As the largest independent funding institution in North Rhine-Westphalia, the Kunststiftung NRW has been awarding its international Nam June Paik Award for 20 years. In 2023, the foundation has relaunched the award – with the selection and implementation of an outstanding site-specific proposal.
Named after the media artist Nam June Paik, the award is aimed at artists and collectives of all genres. The winners, chosen by an internationally composed jury, will receive a prize money of 25,000 euros, as well as a solo exhibition and a publication in collaboration with a partner institution in North Rhine-Westphalia.
In 2023, the award will be given in cooperation with the Sculpture Museum Marl.
