The first major exhibition by the legendary photographer Steven Meisel opened in A Coruña, Spain.
Steven Meisel 1993 A Year in Photographs includes more than 100 portraits selected by Steven Meisel’s own studio and is organised by the MOP Foundation, chaired by Marta Ortega Pérez. It is opened to the public free of charge until May 1, 2023 in the Muelle de la Batería exhibition space.
The exhibition focuses on the work of this master of photography during 1993, a pivotal year in his career to date when he shot 28 covers for Vogue together with over 100 editorial stories including the iconic ‘Anglo-Saxon Attitudes’.
At the heart of the exhibition are over 100 classic portraits of women and men from the worlds of fashion and film, including Linda Evangelista, Carla Bruni, Naomi Campbell, Hamish Bowles, Kyle MacLachlan, Claudia Schiffer, Jaye Davidson, Barbra Streisand, Marlon Richards, Isabella Blow, Amanda Harlech and Twiggy.
Steven Meisel is widely considered to be the most important and prolific fashion photographer of his generation. He has produced some of the most memorable and recognised fashion advertising campaigns ever created, including imagery for Prada, Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, Valentino, Calvin Klein, Yves Saint Laurent and Zara.
