MOMENTA Biennale de l’image is proud to present its 18th edition, which will take place from September 7 to October 22, 2023. Curated by Ji-Yoon Han, the Biennale has partnered with Montreal museums, galleries, and artist-run centres to offer the public a series of exhibitions with the theme Masquerades: Drawn to Metamorphosis. The opening celebration for the Biennale will take place at Fonderie Darling’s Place Publique on September 7 at 5pm, offering something for everyone with performance, music and refreshments on the menu.
Taking place in 16 venues across the city, the Biennale’s program brings into dialogue 23 artists from Canada and abroad, representing 15 countries, 5 provinces, and 4 Indigenous nations. The exhibitions present processes of transformation, mimicry, and mutation that activate and explore how the image functions between representation and metamorphosis.
