This year our programme seeks to map out aspects of the future. In doing so, we will often also examine challenges of the present as well as legacies of injustice. Keep an eye on our website and especially Digital Catalogue, a dynamic means of documenting our exhibitions and presenting discursive material. All 2023 exhibitions are curated by Séamus Kealy.
Exhibitions, February 24–April 23
Openings: Friday, February 24, 8pm
Preceded by an artist talk at 7pm
Great Hall
Hedda Roman
Düsseldorf-based duo Hedda Schattanik and Roman Szczesny present a haunting and energetic collaboration in the form of media-based art. Through the use of algorithms, avatars, AI technology and photography, video and sculpture, this artist duo transposes and expands the immediate but cerebral quality of cinematic storytelling. This work embodies the implications of future technologies, today and will take the form of a large-scale installation in the Great Hall.
Kabinett
Beate Ronacher
This Salzburg-based artist presents new sculptural work in the form of an installation in the Kabinett Gallery.
Exhibitions, May 5–July 2
Openings: Friday, May 5, 8pm

Michèle Pagel
Viennese-based artist Michèle Pagel combines ceramics with mixed materials to create political installations. Pagel’s sculptures, where she copies and alienates everyday objects–often slightly abstracted in glazed brick–captivate with their quirky formal language and tongue-in-cheek wit. We encounter here kitsch, jokes, political references, and clever jeu de mots. Having grown up in the former GDR, Pagel places themes critical of capitalism, feminism and anti-fascism at the center of her sculptures and installations. Sometimes sinister, sometimes elegant, the artist’s works are in any case one thing: relentless and spot on.
Kabinett
Csaba Fürjesi
Working across different media, this Salzburg-based artist presents new work in the Kabinett Gallery.

Omer Fast
In 2019, Séamus Kealy commissioned Omer Fast to make his astonishing film, Der oylem iz a goylem. From 2020 until 2024, we present a long-term installation of Omer Fast’s VR-film The Invisible Hand, based on the same fairy-tale, as an expression of our ongoing collaboration with this world-renowned artist.
Megan Rooney
In 2020, London-based artist Megan Rooney was commissioned to produce a large-scale and astonishing mural through the walls, corridors and ceiling of our Ring Gallery, which continues to warmly welcome our visitors to the Künstlerhaus.
