The Art Explora Foundation is committed to working with public and private actors to support creative initiatives and the circulation of culture in society at large. To this end, Art Explora has joined forces with the Cité internationale des arts to create in 2021 a biannual residency programme for artists, artist collectives and researchers in Montmartre, just a stone’s throw from Sacré-Coeur in Paris. The residents’ projects focus on the themes of scientific and technological exploration and confronts the major social and environmental issues of our time. Some 20 residents are selected each year to join the residency.
For the first session of the 2023 edition, 12 artists (50% of women) from 11 different countries were chosen by a selection committee for the SOLO and the DUO programmes. The festival “Croisements: les Rencontres de Montmartre”
A key element of Art Explora’s overall mission is to share creative work with all types of audiences, including those with the least access to art, and to promote encounters with artists. Art Explora and the Cité internationale des arts organise multiple events with the artists in residency, among them the festival “Croisements: les rencontres de Montmartre.”
On February 4 and 5, will take place the 3rd edition of the festival. During the weekend, the site will be open to visitors, whom will be invited to participate in studio visit and meet the artists, in workshops with NGO’s, and attend performances, readings and film screenings. The last editions brought together 2500 people over three days, welcomed by 20 volunteers from the Art Explora Foundation.
