We received 472 proposals that were voted on by an international panel of nearly 700 jurors from many disciplines. 74 countries were represented on both sides. In addition to many individuals, 24 international university classes made jurying part of their syllabus. Jurors were asked to read at least 50 anonymous submissions, with many reading over a hundred. Over 21,000 votes were cast to determine the five winning proposals that will become exhibitions in the 2024-2025 season at apexart in New York City.
You can find the full proposal ranking page with your proposal listed by number and proposal name here.

Goddess Tales
Submitted by Katie Yook—United States
Goddess Tales is an exhibition of Asian diaspora artists who reimagine ancient cultural practices and mythologies as a means to root oneself in identity and strengthen intergenerational narratives. It suggests a turn towards alternative practices for spiritual guidance and survival when existing establishments fail us.
Cruising in the Shadows: Uncovering Secret LGBTQ+ Culture in New York City
Submitted by Matt Terrell—United States
Cruising in the Shadows uncovers a vital but often overlooked aspect of LGBTQ+ culture. Cruising involved seeking sexual partners in public spaces, often using secret visual codes to express queer desire. This exhibition will use both contemporary art and historic artifacts to chart the changes in cruising culture over the last century across New York City.
On my fingertips
Submitted by Noel Maghathe—United States
On My Fingertips curates an immersive dialogue by Palestinian women artists Yasmine Omari, Leila Awadallah, and Jenna Hamed. Blending tradition with contemporary narratives through video installations, bookmaking, and movement, this exhibition delves into personal remembrances and ancestral stories, reflecting heritage, identity, and resilience in the Palestinian Diaspora and in their homeland.
Please consider submitting a proposal to our International Open Call in February 2024, or signing up to be a juror by sending an email to juror [at] apexart.org by the first week of January 2024.
