HOFFNUNG? HOFFNUNG!
This year’s theme, HOPE? HOPE! will address urgent current social and environmental issues through an interdisciplinary approach to enhance and encourage a dialogue around different meanings of “hope” with international thought leaders from whom to gain a deeper understanding of hope as a driving force inherent in human beings.
We proudly present our participants: the former President of Germany Joachim Gauck; the artists Ai Weiwei, Aïsha Devi, Matthew Lutz-Kinoy, Ernesto Neto, Barbara Stauffacher Solomon, Camille Henrot, and Natsuko Uchino; the Palestinian architect Sandi Hilal; the innovation ETH researcher Catherine De Wolf; the French retro-explorers Loïc Rogard and Cédric Carles; the Belgian landscape architect Bas Smets; the visionary art collector Uli Sigg; the leading member of the Roundtable for the New European Bauhaus Francesca Bria; the author and scholar Mohomodou Houssouba; and the former CEO of Human Rights Watch Kenneth Roth, amongst others.
The curators Hans Ulrich Obrist (Artistic Director, Serpentine Galleries, London), Daniel Baumann (Director, Kunsthalle Zürich), Bice Curiger (Artistic Director Fondation Vincent Van Gogh Arles) and Philip Ursprung (Professor for the History of Art and Architecture and Dean of the Department of Architecture of ETH Zurich) together with Cristina Bechtler (Founder E.A.T), invited the international speakers to explore this year`s topic Hope? Hope!
