Modern art was marked by a productive contradiction between its reception and the work itself: on the one hand, it was supposed to demonstrate radically its materiality and structures, yet on the other hand, it often seemed like something other than what it is. Ultimately, a greater part of fascination with modern art and its success with the public often stems from this dualism until today. The exhibition explores this phenomenon as reflected in four contemporary artistic practices.
