During her residency, Emmanuelle Lainé occupied the Patio gallery and produced a totally experimental exhibition, creating a mise en abyme of the place and the objects, accentuating her attempt at illusion and decompartmentalizing of the space in an unusual way, notably by using video images.

to set property on fire

Eva Barto developed the project to set property on fire from the story of Pierre-Joseph Arson, his mystical quest of the absolute and of power. She developed her project around the realms of gambling, the stock exchange and the perpetual desire for gain, creating a “speculative zone” in the galerie des Cyprès, while avoiding the usual markers of an exhibition.

The Villa Arson invites the Izolyatsia foundation (Kyiv, Ukraine) to produce in the galerie Carrée the exhibition Blue Sky Catastrophe, created by the collective zhúzhalka group. From Ukrainian political events of recent years to other crises arising in the world, these artists comprehend by the prism of an artistic regard, critical moments in history under the angle of their vicissitude or their potential to provoke change.

31 recent graduates of the school of art of Nice will exhibit at the Villa Arson and at the Galerie de la Marine. It is the spirit of “à-propos” (appropriateness) witch presides over this demonstration, more than the emergence of a style or a school (even from Nice). 31 proposals which arrive “à-propos,” that means just at the right moment, after 5 years of wanderings and experiments.
