Application deadline: June 8, 2016
On May 2, 2017, the Museum of Contemporary Art_Toronto_Canada (formerly the Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art) will launch its first series of exhibitions in our new home within the historic Auto Building located in Toronto’s west end. This marks a new phase of dynamic growth and expansion for the Museum, which recently announced its new mission devoted to the art of the 21st century, being an “agora” and a “nexus.”
As a key member of the Museum’s senior management team, the Director of Programs and Research position offers a tremendous opportunity for a visionary curator to maximize and strengthen the internal capacity of an emerging cultural institution, poised to expand its presence in a global metropolis such as Toronto and develop international outreach.
You will play a critical role in supporting CEO and Director Chantal Pontbriand and partnering with the senior leadership team in strategic decision-making and operations as the Museum continues to build its presence and enhance its quality programming around innovative ideas and issues pertaining to the contemporary world.
Using your extensive experience, along with your creative approach to programming and developing partnerships, you will establish the Museum’s priorities for an integrated program of exhibition-making, collection development, and live events.
You will have the aptitude for providing strong leadership and operational oversight and will bring an inclusive approach to building, leading, and inspiring a hybrid curatorial, research, learning, and collection management team.
Your strong track record of fostering relationships with artists, fellow curators, collectors, and donors will be an asset to the Museum’s next phase.
As we position the institution to reflect our diverse community and international outlook, the ability to speak more than one language would be a significant advantage.
