The Department of Art, Film, and Visual Studies seeks to appoint two tenure-track professors to join our interdisciplinary community of artists, filmmakers, curators and scholars. Offering an undergraduate concentration and a graduate program in film and visual studies, AFVS fosters myriad practices in contemporary art, film and the humanities broadly construed.
Tenure-track Professor in Studio Art
The Department of Art, Film, and Visual Studies seeks to appoint a tenure-track professor in studio art, open to any medium or discipline. Of particular interest are practices that may include, but are not limited to, the expanded fields of sculpture, painting or drawing, and/or have connections to social practice, public art or research-based work. Artists who identify as people of color or as members of historically excluded groups are especially encouraged to apply. Please submit the following materials through the ARIeS portal.

The appointment is expected to begin July 1, 2023, and the tenure-track professor will be responsible for teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to teaching and desire to join and thrive in an inter-disciplinary and inter-media community of artists and scholars.
Qualifications: Candidates should have a record of accomplishment in the field, as demonstrated by screenings, exhibitions, and projects in venues relevant to the candidate’s practice. An MFA or equivalent degree and teaching experience at the college or university level is preferred, but not required.
Tenure-track Professor in Digital Media Practice
The Department of Art, Film, and Visual Studies seeks to appoint a tenure-track professor in digital media practice. Of particular interest are practices that may include, but are not limited to, the expanded fields of video, animation, interactive digital art, sound, virtual and augmented reality, and mediated performance.
