Discover the contents of ARCOmadrid 2023. On its 42nd edition, to be held from February 22–26, ARCOmadrid will once again turn to galleries and artists to explore the most relevant topics of contemporary art and to continue investigating past, present and future artistic practises. ARCO will give space to all agents involved in the art world ecosystem to find a unique position, from which to share their knowledge and interests with others.
Next edition will be a moment for encounters and an oportunity to discovery new contents. It will count with the presence of new international galleries that confirm once more ARCOmadrid as a key context for artists’ visibility, a unique and active market and a space to increase the knowledge around art. ARCO, along with the city of Madrid, will provide a unique experience for all fair visitors on its next edition.
Some of the international galleries participating for the first time or returning to the fair this year, include: Capitain Petzel, Contemporary Fine Arts, David Zwirner, Mendes Wood DM, Nicolai Wallner, Rüdiger Schöttle, and Timothy Taylor. Galleries such as Mehdi Chouakri, Neugerriemschneider, Perrotin, Ruth Benzacar or Société confirm their trust in ARCOmadrid, together with others such as Chantal Crousel; Elvira González, Giorgio Persano, Helga de Alvear, Jocelyn Wolff, Krinzinger, Lelong, Mai 36, Meyer Riegger, Nächst St. Stephan Rosemarie Schwarzwälder, Peter Kilchmann, ProjecteSD and Thaddaeus Ropac, among others.
Parallel to the General Programme, ARCOmadrid will present three curated sections. Its research theme for 2023 will be The Mediterranean: A Round Sea which, under the curatorship of Marina Fokidis, with the advising of Bouchra Khalili, Hila Peleg and Pedro G. Romero, aims to mobilise the relationships that take place from bottom to top and side to side in an attempt to reach a meeting point for the shared intensities of this geographic area. The presence of galleries from thirteen countries will make it possible to explore works by artists such as Anna Boghiguian KOW, Iman Issa Rodeo, Jumana Manna Hollybush Gardens- Mohamed Bourouissa Kamel Mennour, Silvina Der Meguerditchian Kalfayan Galleries, Stefania Strouza A.Antonopoulou.Art, Laia Estruch Ehrhardt Flórez or Hana Miletić Lambda Lambda Lambda.
Opening by Allianz, will again provide a space for the discovery of new positions at the fair. The selection curated by Julia Morandeira and Yina Jiménez Suriel will present the proposals of young international galleries with the participation of spaces such as Constitución, Foro.Space, HOA, Pequod Co., The Liminal or Zina.
The Never the Same. Latin American Art section will contribute to increasing knowlegde into Latin American creation and its relationship with all the artistic agents present at the fair. Curated by Mariano Mayer and Manuela Moscoso, it will be conformed by a selection of Latin American artists from galleries such as Jaqueline Martins, Max Mayer, Karen Huber, Crisis, Proyectos Ultravioleta or Hache
The Forum will support the contents presented at the galleries and will specially extend the exploration of art in the Mediterranean with a structure as multi-faceted and plural as the actual art practises of the different art scenes in the region. It will also focus in the commitment and constant support of collectors from different contexts.
