October 28, 2022–December 31, 2023
Our two podcast hosts couldn’t be more different: the art historian Emily Barsi from Pietrasanta near Carrara and the Munich-based artist Ralf Homann. Together, they guide listeners through episodes devoted to exhibitions at the Kunstraum München and many other lovely art-world topics beyond mainstream and marketing. And with episodes from London and Florence, the “Kunstraum.Kunstraum” podcast is as mobile as the annual program of the Kunstraum is international.
Before each exhibition, Emily and Ralf visit the featured artist in their studio. A second aspect comes into play as they speak with the curator of the exhibition in the Kunstraum. And then there is a »third space« in which Emily and Ralf welcome critics as their in- studio guests.
Incidentally, the podcast owes its title “Kunstraum.Kunstraum” to our 50th anniversary in 2023, making the Kunstraum München the first Kunstraum (art space) in Germany. More on this in the podcast “Kunstraum.Kunstraum”.

Exhibition: Houses That Can Save the World. Houses made of hemp?! In London’s East End, we meet the architect and founding director of Material Cultures. The non-profit team researches architecture in the post-carbon age. Emily and Ralf explore the challenges of new materials like “concrete made from hemp”.

Exhibition: Heidi Sees a Picture. “May I give stars?” our guest critic asks after a knowledgeable look at Thomas Splett’s exhibition. Art historian Monika Bayer-Wermuth joined the team at Museum Brandhorst in Munich after working at London’s Tate Modern in 2019 as a curator of contemporary art. Her Critical Review is already whetting our appetite for the second season of our podcast.
Kunstraum.Kunstraum—the podcast on the road with Emily and Ralf is funded by Stiftung Kunstfonds—Neustart Kultur and Kunstraum München.
