The Università della Svizzera italiana, Academy of Architecture in Mendrisio, is seeking to fill two positions as Full Professor in Architectural design.
The ideal candidate for the position has in principle obtained a degree in architecture from a Polytechnic institute or University, or a higher education qualification, and:
–Demonstrates a solid and diversified experience in architectural design of buildings, with the necessary connection to the urban and/or territorial scale, and preferably at international level;
–Proves extensive experience as a practising architect in the realisation of projects and in taking care of building process and construction details;
–Demonstrates of a proven teaching experience at university level in the above-mentioned fields
The teaching of Architectural Design at the USI Academy of Architecture in Mendrisio encourages a generalist vision of the discipline, aiming at a conscious balance between humanistic and technical approaches in its curriculum, and yet striving to give space and visibility to all cultural tendencies that are willing to understand and promote new transdisciplinary and diversified interests that intervene in the decision-making and design processes of both architecture and of its own environment and that redefine the role of architecture in contemporary society.
The Università della Svizzera italiana is aware of the various and different backgrounds of its employees and, as an institution that promotes diversity and inclusion, USI particularly encourages applications by female candidates and of all under-represented categories, at all levels of the academic career.
Applications should include a letter of application addressed to the Director of the USI Academy of Architecture; a curriculum vitae with details of academic and scientific qualifications, realized projects, publications and any teaching, research and management experiences; a portfolio of realised projects; a maximum of five publications that, according to the candidate, best demonstrate relevance to the job profile described in the present call for applications; three professional and/or scientific references (names and contacts/addresses only).
