The Loeb Fellowship at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design is now accepting applications for the Loeb Fellowship Class of 2024. The deadline for applications is Monday, January 9, 2023. Full application details are available on the Loeb Fellowship website.
The Loeb Fellowship is a year-long residential fellowship for mid-career practitioners whose work is advancing positive social outcomes through the shaping of the built and natural environments. Each Fellow is provided a stipend, housing, and access to the educational resources of both Harvard and MIT over the course of the academic year. Upon completion, Loeb Fellows join an alumni network of over 450 practitioners, a lifelong community of diverse, and engaged professionals. Loeb Fellowship alumni include Robin Chase, Alejandro Echeverri, Theaster Gates, Anna Heringer, Rick Lowe, Damon Rich, Inga Saffron, Phil Freelon, Andrew Freear, Henry Hampton, Florencia Rodriguez, Eleni Myrivili, and Deanna Van Buren.
The Loeb Fellowship encourages applications from a wide range of exceptional practitioners in the US and around the world with a minimum of five to ten years of experience in their fields. Past Fellows have included urban planners and designers, public artists, landscape architects, journalists, architects, activists, policy-makers, and community development leaders, among other interests and professions. For practicing artists, the recently launched Loeb/ArtLab Fellowship also grants access to space and support from the ArtLab at Harvard University. One candidate from each Loeb cohort may be eligible for the Loeb/ArtLab Fellowship, with selection conducted as part of the Loeb Fellowship application process.
Each year, the Loeb Fellowship seeks to build a diverse cohort of professionals across racial, ethnic, gender and cultural identities, disciplines, geographies, abilities, socio-economic circumstances, and educational backgrounds. Practitioners with experience in diverse community settings, and individuals from historically underrepresented groups and communities are encouraged to apply. The Fellowship does not have educational or degree requirements. Professionals with atypical educational or career paths are welcome.
