The curators and team of Ornamenta invite artists to exhibit or perform their work in a programme taking place across the Northern Black Forest region in Germany.
Through five speculative neighbourhoods we show, discuss and develop new ways of dealing with global issues in local arena’s. Artists are invited to contribute to one or more of Ornamenta’s neigbhoorhoods: Das Inhalatorium, Das Solartal, Bad Databrunn, Zum Eros and Die Schmutzige Ecke.
Send in your work for exhibitions or proposals for new works to be presented as part of the Ornamenta programme in 2023 and 2024.
About Ornamenta
First launched in 1989, the first edition of Ornamenta was focused on video art, schmuck, and metal works. For the upcoming edition of Ornamenta 2024, the curators use the regional context as the curriculum, slowly transforming the existing geographic sites and former identities into temporary regional societies. Showing new behaviours and rituals, imagining their built environments, prototyping daily products and rethinking its ornaments.
Ornamenta is informed by a gathering of artists and other makers from the Northern Black Forest region, Germany and Europe at large. The programme is compiled of site specific solo exhibitions, thematic group exhibitions, lecture series, events and public art works. The public programme takes places from May–September 2023 and May–September 2024.
