Cranbrook Academy of Art offers a singularly unique educational model. At its core, it is a truly radical experiment that hinges on the belief that extraordinary things can happen when people are given time and space to explore their work in a supportive and inclusive community. We are a robust community of architects, artists, and designers, living and working on a campus specifically designed for that purpose.
Come see it for yourself during our graduate open house on November 12 from 10am–4pm. Meet Artists-in-Residence (who are also the lead faculty and Head of each department), tour studio spaces, facilities, and learn about life on campus and enjoy a Collections Wing Tour at Cranbrook Art Museum.
The Academy is different from any other MFA or M.Arch-granting program in the country. Free from conventional classes and a fixed curriculum, we offer an unscripted approach that centers the questions and interests of artists who choose to come here as they strive to make sense of an ever-changing world.
Our unique program offers an intense studio-based experience comprised of up to 150 graduate students where Artists-in-Residence mentor students in Architecture, 2D Design, 3D Design, 4D Design, Ceramics, Fiber, Metalsmithing, Painting, Photography, Print Media, and Sculpture to creatively influence contemporary culture. The curriculum is structured around self-directed studio work, critique, a rigorous academic program, and a robust schedule of visiting artists, architects, designers, and thinkers.
Our competitive two-year MFA or MArch programs are ideal for motivated students who want to take their work to the next level. Cranbrook offers opportunities for full tuition support and grants while offering unlimited studio time and full access to our on-site contemporary art museum.
Please RSVP here, where you will also find a schedule of events. We hope you can join us.
