The Department of Architecture at ETH Zurich invites applications for the above-mentioned position. The professorship is located at the Institute of Design and Architecture IEA.
The new professor is mainly responsible for core courses for students in the first and second semester of the Bachelor’s degree programme and co-advises further courses in the Bachelor’s degree programme and in the Master’s degree programme (incl. master’s thesis). She or he is called upon to teach fundaments of art and to fully engage with the plurality of conceptual and practical means by which students develop a creative mind and the ability for critical thinking. Furthermore, she or he is expected to propose and develop a state-of-the-art research agenda with regard to developments, influences and opportunities of digital media. The new professor will cooperate with chairs among the department, also with regard to the supervision of master’s theses. Close collaboration with the existing chairs at the Institute of Design and Architecture is of particular importance.
The successful candidates are outstanding and internationally renowned figures with a substantial œuvre and a fundamental didactical engagement. They demonstrate how their practice and didactical teaching models will contribute to a multidisciplinary environment. Responsible leadership of a group of employees and the commitment to help develop the Department of Architecture beyond the boundaries of the own field of expertise are expected. The language of instruction should be German or English.
