A Drop Meant To Become A Stalactite, But Fell On The Seeker’s Torch.
Linus Baumeler
The first exhibition of 2023 features Biel-based artist Linus Baumeler who takes inspiration in the semiotics of the cave. At times abstract, playful or mysterious, the cave evokes a seemingly eternal place of origin, but also one that triggers both shelter and fear. Linus Baumeler invites Elischa Heller, Cyril Tyrone Hübscher and Lino Meister to contribute to the space by means of sound, sculpture and sensorial works.

Motion: When Flowers Are Kneeling
Jerlyn Heinzen
In the first Motion—a new and shorter format that gives space to performative and collaborative research-based projects—artist Jerlyn Heinzen focuses on the heritage of Asian migrant communities. Following a five-month research trip through the US in 2022, the artist developed a new body of work consisting of a series of oversized ceramic puzzles with a backdrop of a pop soundtrack, reflecting on life journeys stigmata and memories.

The Gleaners
Bastien Aubry, Hannah Külling, Sophie Jung, Sveta Mordovskaya, Selma Selman
In her 2000 film The Gleaners and I, Agnès Varda studies the act of “gleaning” and expands it into a large sphere of interpretation. Viewed as an act of transformation and subversion, gleaning refers to an alternative system of distribution and supply—an economy based on the unwanted and the thrown-away. So what does gleaning imply today in a world faced with increasing production and filled with leftovers? The exhibition looks at how artists use the art of gleaning to renegotiate systems of values, letting serendipitous assemblages and revisited stories arise.

Another Map to Nevada: Biel/Bienne
The Performance Agency
Another Map to Nevada is a performative boat ride in the city’s urban fabric and a signature production of The Performance Agency. In the summer of 2023, a new version of the project takes place in collaboration with KRONE COURONNE on the lakes and waterways of Biel/Bienne and Neuchâtel. On three evenings, visitors sit on the boat’s deck accompanied by narratives taking them on an unusual journey, in which the landscape becomes the stage.

Motion: Sweet Crip Queer Time and Space
Proposed by Lari Medawar
Sweet Crip Queer Time and Space is imagined as a space to shed light on the way disabled and neurodivergent people experience love, pleasure, temporalities and places. These moments of exchange aim at apprehending the stakes of queer and disability studies in the field of art and culture.

Carte Blanche
Leolie Greet
For this carte blanche, Biel-based artist Leolie Greet intends to design a series of new sculptural interventions. Conceived as a spatial narrative, the artist’s polymorphic installation results in traces and fragments, suggesting the passage of an invisible character that guides the public in its fiction.
KRONE COURONNE is a contemporary art centre in Biel/Bienne founded in 2021 under the direction of curators Kristina Grigorjeva and Camille Regli.
