Application deadline: June 2, 2016
Art Basel is delighted to invite you to apply for participation in the 2017 edition of the Art Basel show in Hong Kong. The private view will take place on Tuesday, March 21 and Wednesday, March 22, 2017 and the show will open to the public from Thursday, March 23 to Saturday, March 25, 2017.
Applications for the three major sectors of the Hong Kong show—Galleries, Insights and Discoveries—are now open. Please be advised that the deadline to submit your applications for the 2017 edition of Art Basel in Hong Kong is Thursday, June 2, 2016. Applications can be submitted to the following three sectors:
Galleries is the main exhibition sector of Art Basel, where leading galleries for modern and contemporary art from Asia and around the world display artworks from the 20th and 21st centuries. To qualify for this sector, galleries must have been in operation for a minimum of three years, and apply with their overall program while outlining their concept for a booth at the show.
Insights presents precisely curated projects focused on artists from Asia and the Asia-Pacific region (broadly defined as from Turkey to New Zealand, the Middle East to the Indian sub-continent). The projects featured in this sector may include solo shows, exceptional art-historical material and strong thematic group exhibitions. Galleries from Asia and the Asia-Pacific region as well as non-Asian galleries with an exclusively Asian program are also eligible to apply for this sector.
Discoveries provides galleries with a platform to present one or two emerging artists. There is no age limit for the artists. Proposals must be composed of new works by artist(s) represented by the gallery. All artworks exhibited in Discoveries must be part of the proposed project. Please note that the Selection Committee’s preference will be given to projects specifically created for the Art Basel show in Hong Kong, and by artists who are emerging in the international art world. Nonetheless, artists who have been spotlighted at other international art fairs (including Art Basel’s other editions) will also be considered. Ideally, they should not have had major solo presentations with any leading museum or institution. The proposed artwork must be an entirely new body of work, significantly different from what has been exhibited before in such international contexts.
All application forms can be found on our website. Please read the application material carefully and we look forward to receiving your application no later than Thursday, June 2, 2016.
