Geneva University of Art and Design invites applications for the position of HES lecturer, coordinator of the CCC—Critical Curatorial Cybernetic, Master of Research programme.

Highly involved in the cultural life of the city, HEAD – Genève is a major art and design school in Switzerland with an internationally renowned profile. The CCC Research Programme is one of HEAD – Genève three MA programmes in the Fine Arts Department. The CCC is a transdisciplinary and bilingual (FR/EN) study programme, specialising in advanced research methodologies through the medium of contemporary art. The CCC develops artistic practices through teaching critical theory, culture studies and training in curatorial and cybermedia productions as a means of research dissemination. Research training is central to the teaching and ensures academic continuity by initiating scientific projects that participate in the invention of art formats. Website of the MA programme.

Job description
Lecturer in the field of fine arts, extended to the fields of critical, curatorial, cultural and socio-political studies, and with a focus on artistic research. The candidate must have artistic and/or curatorial skills.

The position involves teaching, conducting research projects and coordinating the Programme in a collegial manner. The work is under the responsibility of the Head of the Fine Arts Department.

Main features of the assignment:
Artistic, conceptual, educational and administrative management of the programme and transdisciplinary teaching:

–Monitoring of students’ studies, research and projects up to graduation (MA thesis).
–Setting up life-size projects and cross-disciplinary experiences (public space, city, nature, etc.) specific to art.
–Design, realisation, dissemination and valorisation of research projects through the medium of art, at national and international levels.
–Development of educational and academic partnerships with other institutions and communities of civil society.
–General administration and financial monitoring of the programme.
–Supervision of the coordination work of the assistants.
–Participation in HEAD’s educational and administrative meetings.

Profile (qualifications and skills):
The candidate must demonstrate artistic, critical or curatorial experience in the field, within a specific art scene, one or more institutions or independently, in contact with today’s artists and producers.

He/she must be the author of projects and/or publications in the field of art that attest to an interdisciplinary vision, based on artistic research, and with an imaginative perspective on its relationship with civil society. 

He/she must have a doctorate/PhD or equivalent practice-led research experience in the arts. He/she must have teaching and research experience in international, including non-Western, contexts, and must demonstrate initiative and the ability to work in a team.

He/she must be committed to being a full part of the institution and to developing good relations with the collaborators of the Programme’s international network. He/she must have good communication skills and an ability to develop a convincing vision of the future of the arts disciplines and their changing role in the Swiss and international higher education environment.

He/she must have a good command of French and English, both written and spoken. HEAD/HES-SO Geneva encourages applications from people who contribute to its diversity.
