Initiated by the Bureau des arts plastiques (BDAP) of the Institut français Germany in 2014, the PERSPEKTIVE fund supports exchange-based and collaborative projects between France and Germany in the fields of contemporary art and architecture. PERSPEKTIVE contributes to the visibility and networking of artists and arts practitioners in a European context through its promotion of French-German dialogue on myriad levels: innovative and experimental exhibition concepts accompanied by conferences, symposia, festivals and various educational activities.
A time now exists where sharing and exchange, especially across borders, has become more complex. Faced with a still-fragile health situation and an unprecedented geopolitical situation it is essential to continue to create common ground, connections and to celebrate diversity.
The winning projects of Perspektive 2022 follow this path, having been able to emerge through the cooperation of French and German contributors. Thus, each in their own way, the selected projects seek to enhance transnational cooperation and reveal the richness of what can result from cross-border exchanges. Current conditions have led to imagine and develop new forms of community through original forms of engagement, emerging modes of communication, and collective learning processes that challenge traditional societies without weakening the strength of the bonds that can emerge. Whether the Franco-German exhibitions at CEAAC, Strasbourg, La Traverse, Marseille, and Kulturforum Dresden, or the multiple collaborations for the creation of Side magazine, or the European itinerant project Radical Rituals, all point in the direction of strong social and creative links thanks to the encounter between different communities and practices.
