The Musée cantonal des Beaux-Arts of Lausanne (MCBA) is pleased to announce the exhibition of Marie Cool Fabio Balducci.
Marie Cool Fabio Balducci (b. 1961 in Valenciennes and 1964 in Ostra; live and work in Paris and Pergola) have been developing a political-minded body of work in which the poetic is employed as an element meant to counter ultra-capitalist society along with issues of power and the relationships of dominance that underpin that society. Each of their works involves imagining the “fear of freedom” that Carlo Levi spoke of. The desk, that piece of furniture where power is wielded and work carried out, is central to their actions, which combine performance, sculpture, and drawing. Originally, their exhibition planned for our Espace Projet space was to be a piece involving the museum’s management or acquisition of a spring. For the exhibition today, the artists are screening two new films that form a puzzling reflection on hierarchy.
