The US Department of State has announced the open call for applications for the US presentation at the 18th International Venice Architecture Biennale, from May 18 through November 26, 2023. The Venice Architecture Biennale exhibition is the premier showcase for revolutionary ideas in contemporary architecture and design through national venues.
This call for applications is specifically for the exhibition at the US Pavilion. The award amount is 375,000 USD (including 125,000 USD for pavilion management). Eligibility is limited to not-for-profit art, architecture, educational and cultural organizations subject to Section 501(c)(3) of the US tax code and public or private educational institutions. The US exhibition will be installed at the US Pavilion, owned by the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation and operated by the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice. The US Pavilion at the Biennale is a high-profile platform for illustrating the innovation, ingenuity, high artistic merit, and diversity of the American architecture, design, and arts communities. Applicants should propose exhibitions that:
–Represent the highest standards of US architecture and architectural innovation.
–Support US foreign policy goals such as: furthering diversity, equity and inclusion, building strong civil societies and fostering environmental sustainability.
–Demonstrate robust outreach plans to engage overseas publics and broaden the exposure of the exhibition with US audiences.
