Frame Contemporary Art Finland’s public programme Rehearsing Hospitalities culminates this spring with a series of collaborations in London, New York and Oslo.
Throughout Rehearsing Hospitalities, fostering new and existing collaborations has been critical in how we explore diverse practices of hospitality with others. Building on relationships cultivated over the last four years, the final edition co-hosts a series of exhibitions, fellowships and public programmes. The Rehearsing Hospitalities 2023 programme is organised in collaboration with The Showroom (London), Vera List Center for Art and Politics (New York), UKS (Unge Kunstneres Samfund / Young Artists’ Society) (Oslo), Finnish Cultural Institute in New York and Finnish Institute in the UK and Ireland.
“The 2023 programme revisits some of the central threads explored in the past years including ways of knowing, questions of access and security, and the hostility of hospitality. It presents practices that correspond with these matters, turning in new directions,” programme curators Yvonne Billimore and Jussi Koitela say.

Editorial Tables: Reciprocal Hospitalities is an exhibition and public programme bringing together the publishing practices of Ruth Beale, Sezgin Boynik (Rab-Rab Press), Minna Haukka & Kristin Luke (The Mobile Feminist Library), Minna Henriksson, Rose Nordin, and Elham Rahmati & Vidha Saumya (NO NIIN Magazine). It celebrates the production and dissemination of knowledge through the act of experimental and artist-led publishing, with a focus on intersecting feminist and decolonial perspectives. Co-curated by Yvonne Billimore, Lily Hall and Jussi Koitela, the project involves a range of publishing, archiving and distribution practices, bringing these into dialogue both at The Showroom and online.
Conflicting Relations
The New School, Starr Foundation Hall, University Center, 64 Fifth Avenue, New York, and online
March 11, 2023, 11am–4pm
Conflicting Relations brings forward Indigenous perspectives on matters of hospitality—and the various forms of inhospitality that Sámi peoples in particular experience. This event initiates a dialogue with artist Matti Aikio, the 2022–2023 Vera List Center Sámi Fellow. Aikio’s practice considers the ongoing conflict between the Sámi culture and the Nordic nation-states’ use of natural resources. By considering Indigenous sovereignty and self-determination, Matti Aikio expands on his research on settler-colonial attempts at claiming Indigenous identity in Finland. Situated in a North American context, the discussion invites a range of practitioners to exchange resonances and resistances.
Moon in your Mouth
UKS, Keysers gate 1, 0165 Oslo
May 26–June 25, 2023
I CONSENT—Summer School: May 30–June 2
Curated by Max Hannus and presenting the works of artists Thora Dolven Balke, Tarek Lakhrissi and Inari Sandell, Moon in your Mouth considers consent, intimacy and emotional labour in the realm of exhibition making. Thinking of consent as a methodological tool in artist-curator relationships, Hannus asks how to mediate different agencies in the presentation of artistic work. If we think of intimacy as seeing and being seen, what is required for the seeing to take place: how does one access intimacy?
Parallel to the exhibition, UKS and Frame organise I CONSENT—Summer School, in collaboration with Bedside Productions. Details of the programme and how to attend are to be announced.
