Prospectives Journal is an open access journal published by B–Pro at The Bartlett School of Architecture. Launched in November 2020, the team are now compiling a groundbreaking second issue, The Algorithmic Form, curated by architect and academic Alessandro Bava.
The new issue will explore the use of algorithms in architecture, how their use is evolving and progressing and the contribution they make to architecture and the built environment. It will ask: how are algorithms useful to architectural development? How do they expand the compositional, organisational and formal repertoire that constitute the main objective of architecture as a habitat-making discipline?
The editorial team are inviting submissions from designers, researchers and thinkers. These can include early career and/or precarious university or independent workers, current Bartlett students and Bartlett alumni.
Submissions can focus on either a short positional (1500–2000 words) or research papers (3000–5000 words) that will provoke, critique, corroborate or expand on a hermeneutic framework to discuss the form(s) of algorithms. Submissions will be peer reviewed by Prospectives Journal’s Advisory Board.
Deadline
The extended deadline for papers is March 1. Submissions will be peer reviewed by March 18, and the new issue of Prospectives will be published on April 29.
Submission
To submit papers, please email your submission to bartlettprospectivesjournal [at] ucl.ac.uk with the subject line: “Open Call Submission SURNAME_POSITION or RESEARCH PAPER”. Word documents preferred.
