Media images and digital data are materials of postindustrial culture. They are used to model images of Self and Other, to shape connections between the individual and society, between physical and virtual worlds. Media artists hack these practices and, in their works, open up alternative perspectives to “fossilized” identity debates. Hacking Identity—Dancing Diversity sets the heritage-listed building of the Möllerei in motion with twenty-eight works of international media art.
