Opening on Wednesday 25 September at 18.30 at Galleria Paolo Curti / Annamaria Gambuzzi & Co: an exhibition by Ettore Sottsass.
The show features twenty large objects in silver produced in limited edition, designed by Sottsass specifically for this event.
The works of Ettore Sottsass are created through the assemblage of simple geometric figures (cubes, cylinders, spheres, etc.) and an elementary use of perspective. Evident characteristics include the utilization of a simple alphabet of forms, but reconsidered in a new way and reference to the perplexities of ancient cultures. Thus even a simple line in his drawings, firm, direct, normal, seems so solid that it could support the entire world.
His works and designs are part of the permanent collections of important museums, including the Museum of Modern Art of New York, the Metropolitan Museum of New York, Centre Georges Pompidou of Paris, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs of Paris, the Victoria & Albert Museum of London, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs of Montreal, the Israel Museum of Jerusalem, the National Museum of Stockholm.
