The Melbourne School of Design is seeking applicants for the Penny Morris Research Scholarship, which offers funding of 32,400 AUD per year for 3.5 years to a qualified Australian citizen or permanent resident to undertake a PhD at the University of Melbourne.
The Penny Morris Research Scholarship will support a PhD candidate who seeks to change the way we design, construct and care for the environmental and aesthetic qualities of new and existing residential developments in regional and outer suburban areas of Australia.
Applications should outline creative and design-led research proposals, responding to the diverse global and local pressures affecting suburban, regional and rural development.
Research proposals should foreground creative practice research methodologies that use speculative design experimentation as a means of addressing research questions.
The scholarship will be awarded to an eligible candidate whose submission demonstrates an outstanding academic record along with a compelling and innovative proposal.
The Melbourne School of Design supports creative and critical practice as an avenue of research investigation. Successful applicants will undertake their research within and under the supervision of the Creative Practice research community at the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning (ABP), incorporating the Melbourne School of Design (MSD), at the University of Melbourne.
