Helsinki-based art organisation PUBLICS launches the major new initiative PUBLICS YOUTH Advisory Board. PUBLICS YOUTH extends the curatorial research developed between PUBLICS, Index Foundation (Stockholm) and PRAKSIS (Oslo): three small-scale organisations dedicated to collaborating with young people to curate new models, formats and modalities for future publics.
PUBLICS is looking for a dedicated group of 18–21-year-olds to join PUBLICS YOUTH; a new employment and learning opportunity providing experience of curating contemporary art and a platform to contribute to the future of our organisation – both how we work and what we can do better. PUBLICS is interested in developing program that provides young people with better access to the arts now and in the future.
PUBLICS YOUTH members do not need any prior experience of working or studying in the arts but a curiosity in contemporary art and its future is essential, as well as an interest in books, publishing and engaging with PUBLICS Library. We welcome applicants from people of all backgrounds including those who have not yet had access to similar programmes, and those from backgrounds that are underrepresented in the arts including those: with Black, Asian or ethnically diverse heritage; from low-income backgrounds; who identify as LGBTQIA+; who identify as disabled persons. English is the working language at PUBLICS.

Details of how to apply here.
PUBLICS is a curatorial and commissioning agency with a dedicated research library and event space in Helsinki, Finland. Under the artistic direction of curator Paul O’Neill, with program manager and curator Eliisa Suvanto, PUBLICS explores a “work together” institutional model with multiple overlapping objectives, thematic strands and collaborations. In Autumn 2021 PUBLICS welcomed curator-educator Samantha Lippett as its new Curator of Learning. Samantha will support PUBLICS nurturing of future publics through their participation in contemporary art projects and processes. This new direction for PUBLICS aims to make the arts and culture more accessible to future generations, and to involve them in curating contemporary art, its ecosystem and making things more public together.
