In its second round, the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) is funding cooperative media art and digital culture projects by institutions and independent initiatives in NRW with a total volume of 520,000 EUR.
Developed in cooperation with the network medienwerk.nrw and supervised by the Office medienwerk.nrw.
The Call for Projects is addressed to institutions and initiatives, alliances and collectives, places and spaces of media art & digital culture, whose cooperative projects deal artistically and culturally with contemporary technological/media change and its effects on society.
Opportunities for international partners: Opportunities to participate in the funding programmes are open to artists, researchers, curators who wish to research and work in the Fellowship programme at institutions in NRW, as well as to institutions outside NRW who wish to be part of a collaborative project in the Media Art Fund as a third partner. Project submissions must be submitted by institutions based in NRW.
medienwerk.nrw considers media art to be a multifaceted artistic practice. Its spectrum ranges from visual art to film, music, performance, theatre and cultural education to newer media forms such as virtual reality and hybrid spaces. Using speculative, experimental, questioning, and documentary strategies, among others, it addresses, explores, comments on, and translates current issues surrounding art, technology, and society. It can take a variety of forms and contribute to fostering a multi-voiced social debate.
Interested parties can apply for one of two funding programmes, depending on the project and objective.
