We have the pleasure to announce that the Culture Committee of the City of Malmö, Sweden, today has appointed Lars Grambye director of Malmö Konsthall, effective November 1st, 2003.
Lars Grambye, 43 years of age, lives in Copenhagen, Denmark, holds degrees as mag.art. &a cand.mag. in art history and history from the University of Copenhagen.
From 1997 to 2003 director of the Danish Contemporary Art Foundation in which capacity he has been working with the exchange and dialogue between Danish and international art through a large array of different activities: Establishing visiting programmes, exhibition spaces and residences in Denmark and abroad, initiating and producing exhibitions, international conferences, publications and collaborative projects with foreign partners, building up a public study archive of contemporary Danish art and an information service in print and on the internet, as well as providing financial support for Danish artists abroad and international artists in Denmark.
Before this Lars Grambye was employed by the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Denmark as curator of exhibitions and as press officer since 1993. He was in charge of several significant exhibitions at the Louisiana Museum, modern as well as contemporary. Amongst others, he was co-curator of the large manifestation of international contemporary art, NowHere, in 1996, and co-curator of an extensive survey of new art from Denmark and Southern Sweden, The Louisiana Exhibition 1997.
Previous to his appointment at Louisiana Lars Grambye was working as an art editor and art critic at a Copenhagen daily newspaper, Information.
Lars Grambye is the author of numerous articles and essays on contemporary Danish and international art in journals, catalogues and books, and a frequent lecturer on art and culture in Denmark and abroad. He is a member of the board of the international association of curators, IKT.
