Christian Jankowski (Göttingen 1968, lives in Berlin). In “The Real Fiction” (2003) Christian Jankowski presents four works. “This I played tomorrow”, filmed at Cinecittà studios in Rome. The other three works are: “Telemistica” (1999), “The Holy Artwork” (2001) and “Talk Athens” (2003). This show is the first part of Christian Jankowski’s involvement with CASM, since he will produce a new work in Barcelona in the future.
Ester Partegas (Barcelona 1972, lives in New York). “Dreams are stronger than nightmares and vice versa ” is a new work commissioned by CASM. It is an installation in which Ester Partegàs has reproduced the cold and impersonal space found in every Western city. The artist has emphasized its standardization by turning plants, flower pots and benches in a model that could be repeated infinitely. The human presence is only recognizable by litter.
Vanessa Jane Phaff (Tarleton, UK, 1965; lives in Rotterdam). She creates images in which pre-teen girls carry out actions of a planned drama. Her paintings explore sexuality, suicide and the digression of social rules.
Francisco Queiros (Lisbon, 1972) is one of the most stimulating artists of the new Portuguese scene. He is presenting a new work commissioned by CASM “I laid me down upon a bank”, that includes two videos. “Never paid to tell thy love” is a new work, while “If you trap the moment before its ripe” was shown previously at Fundação Serralves in Porto. The exhibition refers to a process of fainting, an unconscious imaginary that takes the individual to a state of lethargy or resignation.
