Application deadline: January 8, 2016
Cultural practitioners from all disciplines are invited to submit proposals for Asia Art Archive’s fourth annual Open Platform programme. Held in association with Art Basel in Hong Kong, the programme is an integral part of AAA’s endeavour to enable new thinking and critical dialogue around recent art in Asia.
A series of “meetings without walls” will be hosted at AAA’s discursive live events platform at a larger ABHK booth location from March 24–26, 2016. The programme enables researchers, curators, writers, artists, students, academics, and art organisations to leverage AAA’s network in order to further ongoing projects, catalyse new ones, or simply make connections.
Applicants may wish to reach out to individuals through AAA with the option of including AAA team members by request. AAA will provide assistance to help fuel the discussions. Meetings will not be recorded.
Discussion topics should reference AAA’s research and programme interests with some flexibility. The Archive also welcomes contributions through an open call for material to enrich the AAA collection, a free and publicly accessible physical and digital resource aiding the study of recent art in Asia.
Key topics
archive, art and architecture, art and literature, art education, artist books, art writing, collaboration, commons, curatorial studies, digital documentation, exhibition histories, geographies, independent art spaces, keywords, oral history, patronage, pedagogy, performance art, periodicals, photography, politics, protest, public art, publics, sound art, vernacular
Submission guidelines
Applicants must submit a one-page proposal outlining the meeting topic and a list of 7–10 maximum participants, including individuals with whom you have personal contact, and up to three people you wish to reach with AAA’s assistance. We will do our best to initiate a conversation with them.
Application deadline: January 8, 2016 (HK time)
Please send e-mail proposal submissions to: submissions [at] aaa.org.hk
Results announcement
Successful applicants will be contacted via email in mid-January, and full Open Platform programme details will be available on AAA’s website in February 2016.

AAA is a Cultural Partner of Art Basel in Hong Kong for 2016.
Asia Art Archive is an independent non-profit organisation initiated in 2000 in response to the urgent need to document and make accessible the multiple recent histories of art in the region. With an international Board of Directors, an Advisory Board made up of noted scholars and curators, and an in-house research team, AAA has collated one of the most valuable collections of material on contemporary art in the region—open to the public free of charge and increasingly accessible from its website. More than a static repository waiting to be discovered, AAA instigates critical thinking and dialogue for a wide range of audiences via public, research, residential and educational programmes.
