A collaborative project between COGRID-19, Graphic Design / Illustration Collaborative Studio and MICA alumni and faculty.

The COGRID-19 project is a series of risograph prints created to raise money for those most affected by the pandemic. The project brings together 19 artists from a city, each contributing to a shared grid. The collected works are a commentary on the public health crisis and the racial, political and environmental issues that have affected our country. Every penny raised is donated to worthy organizations leading the efforts to help those in need.

Baltimore’s contribution to the COGRID-19 project is a collaboration with MICA (Maryland Institute College of Art) faculty Rebecca Bradley (Program Director, MA Illustration) and Sandra Maxa (Program Director, MA Graphic Design). Their collaborative studio course invites graduate students from all graduate degree programs to work together on projects with community partners. For this poster, students from the Illustration, Graphic Design, and Social Design programs joined forces with nine Baltimore-based designers and illustrators to reflect on what Baltimore has experienced over the past two years and how it has maintained its charm and resilience. Part of MICA’s mission is to “thrive with Baltimore” and this grid is a manifestation of that tenet. Funds raised by the sale of the Baltimore grids will go to The Black Mental Health Alliance.
