It is with tremendous pride and excitement that we will be opening the doors to one of the world’s largest museums dedicated to a single artist. Explore 13 pulsating floors with art experiences that draw lines between past, present and future and with more art by Edvard Munch than ever before.
In our opening programme visitors can experience seven different exhibitions featuring Edvard Munch’s art. Explore his paintings and prints and see the richness of Munch’s work. Take a step into a reconstructed version of Munch’s estate at Ekely, and discover things about his life and home. You can also see Edvard Munch’s art alongside works by other major Nordic artists who were his contemporaries. Finally yet importantly, we open with British artist Tracey Emins’s first major Nordic exhibition, where she shows how Edvard Munch has influenced and shaped her work over several decades.
The new building will deliver art, culture, food and drink experiences, and some of Oslo’s most spectacular views. Come and discover completely new aspects of the greatest artist in Norwegian history—or discover Edvard Munch for the very first time.
