The Board of the Office for Contemporary Art Norway is pleased to announce the appointment of Marta Kuzma to the post of Director of the Office for Contemporary Art Norway (OCA) as of September 1, 2006. Kuzma comes into the position with international experience as a curator, critic, and lecturer having directed institutions both in the United States and Europe. More recently known for her contribution as co-curator for Manifesta 5 in San Sebastian, Spain (2004), Marta Kuzma served as the founding Director for the Soros Center for Contemporary Art in Kyiv; the director for the Washington Project for the Arts/Corcoran, and head of the International Exhibitions Program at the International Center of Photography (NYC). A graduate of Barnard/Columbia University (NYC) and postgraduate of the Centre for Modern European Philosophy in London, she is a lecturer for various academic institutions and contributing writer for international journals including Flash Art and Radical Philosophy.Marta Kuzma succeeds Ute Meta Bauer, who left the position as Director for Office for Contemporary Art in September 2006 to assume the post of Director of MITs Visual Arts Program in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Kuzma aims to continue with Meta Bauers ambition for OCA, as an organization aimed in strengthening links between Norway and the international art scene. Marta Kuzma enters into the position with the intention to bring OCA into the next stage to refer to the component of international participation in OCA as a regenerative means to promote activity within and with attention to Norway. OCA will continue to as a platform for critical aesthetic and institutional discourse both locally and internationally, with intended collaborations with established academic institutions both in Norway and abroad.
