Kiaf SEOUL is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. Kiaf SEOUL has been committed to supporting and introducing numerous Korean artists, and galleries for over 20 years. Despite the prolonged recession due to the COVID-19, the art market stands strong. Kiaf SEOUL 2022 has announced fascinating news of co-hosting an art fair with Frieze, recognizing Seoul as a significant city in the global art market. Kiaf SEOUL 2021 will showcase over 170 galleries’ paintings, sculptures, and videos, coming from ten different countries worldwide.

In order to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Kiaf and Incheon International Airport, the exhibition We Connect Art & Future, KIAF and Incheon Airport will be held at the airport. Through this exhibition, we aim to look back on the past 20 years and envision the future of Incheon Airport and Kiaf at the same time. Incheon International Airport and the Galleries Association of Korea are working together to make South Korea an international gateway as a global art hub. It will showcase about 70 paintings and mixed media works that will be presented by the participating galleries of Kiaf under the mesmerizing architecture of Incheon International Airport.
Kiaf SEOUL online viewing room & programs
Kiaf SEOUL will be held at COEX Hall A and B while simultaneously running the online viewing room, which was newly launched in 2020. This year of OVR enhances techniques such as search filters by making it more convenient to use. The online viewing room (OVR) runs October 15 to 23, and VVIP/VIP have the privilege of accessing a week earlier than the public.
Kiaf SEOUL is gladly opening simultaneously the “Discovering Galleries” program through a webinar with the opening of OVR October 8 through 11. (VVIP, VIP, and all guests can enjoy this program.) This program will connect galleries and artists with the audience by giving live descriptions of the works and insights into the artists’ practices or visiting the artist’s studios. It is an opportunity for the audience to engage and interact with the galleries and artists.
In addition to OVR and Discovering Galleries program, all visitors can meet the talk program at the fair. It is located outside Hall B and all visitors are welcomed to participate. The Talk Program will take place throughout the duration of the fair and includes discussions and presentations from curators, academics, artists, and more.
Kiaf SEOUL 2021 will be held October 15 to 17 at COEX Halls A and B. Art’s insiders and enthusiasts are excited to see the return of Kiaf SEOUL to the city. Despite the current situation of COVID-19, the fair will provide important opportunities for visitors to witness the trend of the global art market. This year is the last event that Kiaf SEOUL will be held alone. From 2022. Kiaf SEOUL will be transformed into a new international art fair in collaboration with Frieze.
